FLOATING FLOOR

RIM Model - Concrete floor

DESCRIPTION

The RIM concrete floating floor model is an insulation system that creates a floating slab capable of preventing the transmission of noise and vibration from the floor to the environment below the floor or to the structure of the building where it is located. It consists of blocks of fiberglass 2" thick (pads), pre-compressed, high-density, coated with a flexible elastomer, separated by an acoustic blanket of low density glass wool. The density and spacing of pads is calculated and sized to provide uniform deflection under the concrete floor, serving a wide range of loads applied to the floor.

The insulation material is supplied in rolls with a width of 1,2 m and thickness of 37,5 mm. Around the entire treated area is placed a strip of insulating material, which serves the purpose of separating the floating floor from the walls or the rigid partition. On the insulating material of the RIM is applied a layer of plywood, moisture resistant and treated against pests, with a thickness of ½ ", which will be used as "lost form for concrete. ". Above this layer of wood a plastic film is used to make the whole area of the timber impermeable, preventing the concrete from leaking below the level of the timber. The seams of the plastic film should be glued to ensure tightness. Finally, concrete is applied over the form, with its metal structure, completing the construction of the floating floor.

You may obtain a insulation class STC-73, confirmed by laboratory tests in the U.S.. It was also obtained in the tests, the impact insulation class IIC-70, cutting almost all sources of impact, except the most severe, making audible, below the floor isolated, the resulting noise from these impacts.

Each floor is specifically designed by the engineering department of SOMAX. May have areas of different density or distribution of "pads" in accordance with the located loads. SOMAX provides the insulating material as "pads" and glass wool, perimeter insulator (PIB) in the thickness of ¾" polyethylene adhesive film for waterproofing, sealing and joining pieces of wood boards.

The installation service, supply of other components and installation of the concrete can be done by SOMAX or some builder with a good level of civil engineering, following the instructions provided. In all cases may be provided supervision of installation done by a SOMAX specialist.
