METRIC UNITS AND/OR ENGLISH

The so-called CA and CPA attenuators have their standard dimensions in English units and the MCA and MCPA attenuators have their standard dimnensions in Metric units, allowing perfect agreement with attenuators and piping diameters or equipment to be attenuated, whatever the unit system adopted.

"POD" ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION

The CPA and MCPA models possess a sound absorption crumb, "POD", concentric with aerodynamic cap, which serves to increase the capacity of noise attenuation.

SIZES

The Standard line has several diameters and each diameter with 2 standard lengths: 1D and 2D. 1D means that the length is equal to the inner diameter of the attenuator and 2D the length is twice the diameter. Other lengths and diameters can be manufactured on request to the SOMAX Department of Applications Engineering.

CONSTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS

The SOMAX cylindrical noise attenuators are constructed of housing, the "POD" structure and aerodynamic cap in galvanized steel sheet. The filling of the absorbing noise cells is made with EUROLON ® and the protection of media absorption is made with perforated and galvanized steel plate.

EUROLON® - SOUND ABSORPTION MEDIA

Sound absorbing cells are filled with EUROLON ®, whose composition a is semi-rigid plate of glass wool with a controlled density, treated with special adhesive, covered with woven fiberglass with thread diameter and specifically designed mesh for obtaining the best acoustic performance, resulting in an inert, non-hygroscopic, not subject to decomposition, inhospitable to insects, pests, fungi and bacteria.

The EUROLON ® has been extensively tested for fire resistance according to Standard BS476 (Fire Test on Building Materials and Structures) Parts 5, 6 and 7, and obtained the following ratings:

BS476 Part 5: "Test for Flammability of Materials" Class ''P''.

BS476 Part 6: "Test for Fire Propagation materials" Index Performance (I) = 9.5P and Sub-index (i) = 5.4.

BS476 Part 7: "Test for Surface Spread of Flame" Class 1.

Consequently, Eurolon® is classified as "Class 0" according to "Building Regulations E15 1976" and the "Lloyds Register of Shipping Certificate" is classified as "material having Low Flame Spread Characteristics" comprising including its use in "Offshore Installations".
