ASYMMETRIC CELL

The asymmetric cells attenuators have the advantage of being able to meet the various spectra of noise by frequency attenuation due to the variation of the position and size of cells and airflow channels. This change in the spectrum of noise attenuation allows the selection of the most appropriate model for each case resulted from the emitted noise, the geometry of the system and the desired acoustic condition.


RAS (Rectangular Asymmetric Silencer)

The RAS line has 18 combinations of cells (identified by letters from A to U) and up to 7 different lengths (identified by numbers 2 through 8). The number of length corresponds to the number of spacings of 300 mm, therefore the length can vary from 600 mm to 2400 mm. The width and height of the attenuators are determined based on the area of air flow required, to be set by the passing speed ideal for every project. CERTIFIED PERFORMANCE

All combinations of cells absorbers, air flow channels and lengths available to the RAS line attenuators have been tested in laboratories trained in accordance with BS 4718, with the certification of the key factors in ensuring an efficient acoustic design:

● Noise attenuation per octave frequency depending on the speed of air flow.

● Noise attenuation depending on the direction of air flow in relation to the position of the noise source.

● Pressure drop as a function of the dimensions, the air velocity and the position of the regeneration noise attenuator as a function of the air flow speed and position of the noise source.

CONSTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS

The RAS noise attenuators consist of housing, cell structure and aerodynamic "nose" entry in galvanized steel sheet. The filling of the cells absorbing noise is made with EUROLON®.

EUROLON® - SOUND ABSORPTION MEDIA

Sound absorbing cells are filled with EUROLON ®, whose composition a is semi-rigid plate of glass wool with a controlled density, treated with special adhesive, covered with woven fiberglass with thread diameter and specifically designed mesh for obtaining the best acoustic performance, resulting in an inert, non-hygroscopic, not subject to decomposition, inhospitable to insects, pests, fungi and bacteria.

The EUROLON ® has been extensively tested for fire resistance according to Standard BS476 (Fire Test on Building Materials and Structures) Parts 5, 6 and 7, and obtained the following ratings:

BS476 Part 5: "Test for Flammability of Materials" Class ''P''.

BS476 Part 6: "Test for Fire Propagation materials" Index Performance (I) = 9.5P and Sub-index (i) = 5.4.

BS476 Part 7: "Test for Surface Spread of Flame" Class 1.

Consequently, Eurolon® is classified as "Class 0" according to "Building Regulations E15 1976" and the "Lloyds Register of Shipping Certificate" is classified as "material having Low Flame Spread Characteristics" comprising including its use in "Offshore Installations".

APPLICATIONS

The RAS attenuators are suitable for use in the treatment of industrial and commercial noise, with a wide range of use in projects of high responsibility and quality engineering. Among the main applications can be highlighted:

● Treatment of motor generators, turbines and co-generation systems.

● Air conditioning systems and air for production process on oil rigs.

● Air handling systems in steel mills.

● General Industrial air handling systems.

● Ventilation systems in tunnels and subway stations.

● Acoustic treatment of air conditioning and general ventilation.

RAS Cells

The RAS attenuators can also be provided in the form of independent absorbing cells to be installed in masonry plenuns, concrete or rock in accordance with the assembly instructions for the preservation of the "airways" (air passages) and the order and arrangement of cells attenuating. This type of delivery is suitable for large attenuators which have to be installed in parts, due to installation access and transportation costs.

OPTIONAL ITEMS

Are supplied optionally: input and output flanges, counter flanges, special paints, stainless steel construction, two-part construction, construction for high pressure, metal* or drilled* protection sheet, integrated plenums into input or output , integrated shutters and counter-flow integrated "damper" at the entrance or exit of the air.

* The inclusion of metal protection in the cells generates changes in the regeneration noise, possibly modifying the selection of the noise attenuator.

PREFERRED RANGE OF SELECTION

The performance data below allows quick selection of models and sizes of the RAS attenuators comprising the preferred range of use, portraying the band that corresponds to the most requested attenuation spectra. A selection of other models and sizes and airflow speeds greater than 8 m / s is made by unique software, which can be made upon request to the SOMAX engineering department.
