FDS VIBRATION ISOLATORS - "FREESTANDING"

SOMAX, in technological cooperation with KINETICS NOISE CONTROL, has a variety of solutions for "freestanding" vibration isolation appropriate to all engineering needs.

FDS - FREESTANDING SPRINGS

Vibration isolators consist of high deflection springs, seated freely on the floor, without structuring or limiters, with large diameter (in proportion to height), formed by a steel spring with good lateral stability over a plate resistant to overloads and with a steel leveler "cap " provided with leveling and fixing screws.

The springs are coated with epoxy powder paint according to "1000 hour salt spray rating" by ASTM B-117. The low capacity isolators have bottom plates molded in neoprene with internal steel structure. Those with larger capacities are welded to the bottom steel base, which is coated on the bottom with a neoprene isolator "pad". FDS isolators can be screwed to the floor or to the frame where it is mounted. On the Standard line, these vibration isolators can have deflection capacity of up to 102 mm (4 in) and load capacity of up to 10,523 kg (23,200 lbs). Special FDS isolators are also available with load and deflection capabilities superior to the standardized tables, being treated on request in each case.

Applications:

FDS vibration isolators are recommended for use in vibration and noise sources that are supported on the floor or structures and located near areas where noise and vibration are critical and undesired. They are typically used to reduce the transmission of noise and vibration of low speed mechanical equipments to the structure of the building. Static deflections of up to 102 mm (4 in) are available to compensate for long spans between supports structures and floors.

The FDS isolators model are very effective in controlling both high and low vibration frequencies produced by compressors, pumps, air conditioning equipment, centrifugal and axial fans, internal combustion engines, etc.. In some applications it is recommended the use of inertia or anti-vibration SOMAX bases to obtain better results in vibration control and structural noise.

Technical specifications of FDS vibration isolators:

Are "freestanding" vibration isolators, without housing, with laterally stable steel springs, with lateral resistance that exceeds the vertical load capacity, designed to withstand overload up to 50% of rated capacity.

The springs are mounted between the upper and lower load plates. The top plate has a screw for height adjustment and another for fixing the equipment to be isolated. The base plate of the isolator has a neoprene coating on its lower surface and an optional fixing through screw to the floor or supporting structure.

The springs can be selected to provide the static deflection shown in the table of vibration isolation or as indicated in the design specifications. The springs are color-coded to indicate load capacity.
