VIBRATION ISOLATORS

FLS – With vertical restraint

The FLS vibration isolators of SOMAX, in technological cooperation with KINETICS NOISE CONTROL, are "freestanding" type with vertical restraint suitable for use in equipment subjected to varying loads or significant forces from external sources.

FLS - RESTRAINED SPRINGS

Consists of vibration isolators with high deflection springs, seated freely on the floor, verticaly restrained, large diameter (in proportion to height), formed by steel springs with good lateral stability, mounted within a steel structure constructed in order to limit the vertical movement of the equipment if loads are reduced or if the equipment is subjected to significant external loads. Steel structures also provide a constant clear height which makes installation easy. The FLS isolator is complete with sound isolation "pads" and a steel leveling device equipped with leveling and fixing screw.

The springs are coated with epoxy powder paint according to "1000 hour salt spray rating" by ASTM B-117. The FLS isolators can be screwed to the floor or to the structure where is mounted on. Alternatively these isolators can be welded to the supporting structure. In the standard line, these vibration isolators may have the deflection capacity up to 52 mm (2.03 in) and load capacity of up to 7076 kg (15,600 lbs.) Also available are the special FLS isolators with load and deflection capacities superior to the standardized tables, being treated on request in each case.

Applications:

FLS vibration isolators are recommended for use in vibration and noise sources that have large variable loads such as equipment that uses large volumes of fluid that can be drained or moved between chambers. For example: boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air or water cooled condensers, etc..

Where the resulting movement from variations of loads have to be mechanically limited, also as a result of maintenance operations (drainage). The FLS isolators should be supported on the ground or structure, and are indicated for equipment located near areas where noise and vibration are critical and undesired.

Technical specifications of FLS vibration isolators:

FLS are vibration isolators for equipments subjected to load changings and large external forces or variable torque. Composed of a steel housing designed to limit the vertical movement of the supported equipment using stable steel springs, with lateral resistance that exceeds the vertical load, and designed to resist an overload up to 50% of the rated capacity.

The springs are mounted inside a housing of galvanized steel. The housing is equipped with top loading plate, bottom plate and arms with vertical movement restraints. The top plate has a height adjustment screw and a point of attachment to the equipment to be isolated. The base plate has "pads" of noise isolation, holes for mounting (optional) on the floor or on support structure and, as well as the arms limiters, have noise isolating washers.

The FLS isolators are designed to provide a constant clear height of operation from 0.06 mm (1/8 in).
